Every claim is labelled

You should always know where a statement comes from. We use five kinds:

Claim labels and how they read on the page (examples show the format, not results)
LabelWhat it meansHow it reads on the page
Tested by usWe did it ourselves in our Same-Site Build Test, and it’s in our testing records with a date and plan“In our test on YYYY-MM-DD, publishing the 5-page site took [N] minutes…”
Vendor claimThe company says so on its own site“According to Wix’s pricing page (checked YYYY-MM-DD)…”
Third-party dataPublished by someone elseLinked to the source, with its date
User reportsWhat users say in public reviews or forums“Several users on [forum] report…” with a link

What we never do

  • Claim we tested something we didn’t.
  • Invent experiences, customer stories, statistics, quotes or credentials.
  • Score or rate a product we haven’t tested.
  • Publish fake discount codes, made-up deals or false deadlines.
  • Hide affiliate relationships, or let commissions decide rankings.
  • Copy other publishers’ content.
  • Show screenshots that aren’t ours without saying where they came from.

How a page gets made

  1. Brief. We define the reader, their question and what we can add that other pages don’t.
  2. Research and testing. We gather official pricing and documentation and, where the page covers a tested product, run or re-check the Same-Site Build Test.
  3. Writing. We write the answer first, then the evidence, with every claim labelled.
  4. Review. A human checks every hands-on claim against our testing records, checks every price date and link, and checks the affiliate disclosure.
  5. Publishing. The page shows a “Last updated” date and, for tested products, the test date and plan.

AI-assisted, human-accountable

We use AI tools for research, outlines, drafts and edits. AI does not build test sites, take measurements or decide recommendations.

Before anything is published, a person reviews it, checks hands-on claims against our testing records, checks sources and dates, and is accountable for the result. We don’t publish unedited AI text. Pages are published under the Solo Tool Bench Editorial Team byline.

Prices and updates

  • Every price shows the date we checked it and links to the vendor’s pricing page.
  • We show renewal prices, not just intro prices, wherever they differ.
  • Commercial pages (best-of lists, comparisons, reviews, pricing guides) are reviewed at least every 90 days.
  • Each page shows “Last updated” with a short note on what changed.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. If the error could have changed your decision (a wrong price, a missing limit, a wrong verdict), we add a dated correction note to the page saying what changed.

Found an error? Tell us. A link to the source helps us fix it faster.

Independence

Companies don’t review, edit or approve our pages. They can point out factual errors, like anyone else, and we check those against the source. How we earn money is explained in our affiliate disclosure. How we test is explained on How We Test.
